The Brief

Israel's leading financial products and services Bank Yahav were looking for a creative team building activity for their annual conference to be held at the Royal Beach Eilat, Israel.

Experiential team activity, Blockbusters where teams translate company’s messages or conference themes into dynamic, attention grabbing movie trailers, was chosen.

What happened on the day?

Participants entered the conference room which has been decorated like a Hollywood stage set replete with props and colourful costumes. Teams learnt that they would be required to produce a movie trailer around a specific theme with a clear plot, appropriate background music and the backdrop of Eilat landscape.

The activity kicked off and each team spent time planning and story boarding their movie trailer. They decided on roles and allocated responsibilities. Then participants dressed up in costumes according to the chosen theme. For the following hour and a half, teams engaged in the production of the movie trailer including directing, photography, acting, editing and screenwriting. In the final moments, teams rush to finalise editing their movie trailer and present it for judging.

After a short break, participants returned to the room for the final Oscar ceremony. Participants watched the trailers produced by each team with great excitement and pride, and acknowledged the success of their teamwork. After screening the trailers, participants voted the best movie trailer and the winner was announced.

The Result

Blockbusters was a great success. Participants networked and learnt about each other outside the office in a fun and memorable activity. Participants testified how with limited time they need to learn quickly work together and communicate with each other. Making a movie trailer demanded creative innovative thinking and put pressure on team dynamics. All participants were engaged from start to finish. All involved said it was a great experience that they will remember for life.
